Jubilee begins, updated government website launched
BALDWIN HOUSE, Glenora — Today marks the start of the annual Jubilee, a five-day series of celebrations that will culminate on Friday, 29 May, the seventeenth anniversary of Eniarku’s founding and second since the establishment of the grand duchy and ratification of the nation’s first constitution in 2024.
The government has also launched its new website in what has been described as the most significant change to the system in nearly a decade. Some of the more ambitious upgrades include the inclusion of the full Eniarku Compiled Laws and a rolling index of Council of State resolutions, as well as custom, modernized form interfaces for contacting the government and inquiring about diplomatic relations. In a statement regarding the update, the Lord High Chancellor encouraged all visitors to explore the website and take full advantage of its new features, including the various citizenship forms recently published.
Separately, the Lord High Steward has also announced that this year’s Jubilee Honours, one of the annual lists of individuals appointed to the various orders of the state, will be released later in the week. This comes as the Council of State, in a rare Sunday night session, enacted various amendments to the Honours and Titles Act intended to streamline the state’s honours system. Among the changes are the restructuring of the Military Order of the Cossacks into a civil order and reductions to the various grades and classes in nearly all decorations of state.
The start of the Jubilee also coincides with Memorial Day in the United States, a federal holiday dedicated to honouring American military personnel who have lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. TRH Grand Duke Alexander and Grand Duchess Elizabeth are scheduled to visit the state cemetery this afternoon to pay tribute at the graves of the grand duke’s grandfathers, both of whom served in the United States Armed Forces.
