National flag of Eniarku
National flag

Designed in 2015 for the establishment of the now-defunct kingdom, the national flag represents the state and the people of Eniarku and is the longest-used flag in the nation’s history. Consisting of a horizontal tricolour of azure, white, and crimson, the colors of the flag were chosen to honor the ancestry of the royal family by employing the colors used in many European flags.

The Flag Act permits private use of the national flag, but this is relatively uncommon, as few citizens have access to the flag due to production restrictions. The act requires the flag to always be flown above others (with the exception of other national flags) and also authorizes several variants that are flown by the government and military, as well as during special events like the five-day Eniarkian Jubilee and National Day celebrations.

Royal standard

In addition to the national flag and its variants, the royal standard is the banner of arms of The Sovereign and cosists of the heraldic arms of Eniarku expanded lengthwise to create a flag of seven horizontal bands alternating between azure and white, with the traditional “Eniarkian lion” in the center. The banner is flown to signify the presence of the grand duke and may only be raised when the monarch is present at an official residence or from the vehicle, naval vessel, or aircraft in which they are traveling. In contrast with the national flag, the royal standard is never flown at half-mast because there is always technically a sovereign on the throne.

Coats of Arms

Full (royal) coat of arms

The national coat of arms of Eniarku is the official coat of arms of both the state and the Eniarkian monarch, and as such, the full (or greater) coat of arms is reserved for the grand duke alone and seldom used. The government generally uses the middle coat of arms (without the red mantle) for formal documents, while the lesser coat of arms or shield of arms are used on everyday materials and correspondence. Variations to any version of the coat of arms may be created or altered by law, and entirely new coats of arms can be granted to individual by decree of The Sovereign.

Middle (state) coat of arms

The official form of the escutcheon is a “barry of seven Azure and Argent, Or a lion rampant armed and langued Gules.” The stripes represent what are considered to be the seven original realms under the Eniarkian crown throughout its history, a design chosen during the time of the kingdom to better represent the unity of the state (rather than as a cluster of disparate realms and territories). When crested by the grand ducal crown, this design is referred to as the shield of arms.

In the royal version of the middle coat of arms — a reduced version of the greater arms — the shield of arms is surrounded by the collar of the Most Noble Order of the Crown, supported by two crowned lions, and situated atop a gold platorm (without the red mantling), while the state version retains omits the supporters’ crowns and the chivalric collar. The lesser version of the arms is simply the shield of arms together with the chivalric collar and royal crown.
